After sitting for about a year, got the 2001 V6 Wagon up and running again. It needed a valve cover gasket and an DIC.

I ran it yesterday fine, it as 210k and was running like new.

Today I started it and got the engine light and the trans light. Finally figured out that it is in Trans Limp Mode. Only has a higher gear forward and lower gear if you put it in low.

There are no codes in a low end reader, figuring out it is not smart enough to read them, tried to clear the light and for a bit it goes out, but comes back.

Also, when starting, the trans seems ok in forward for about 20 secs, then "goes" to limp mode again. After some reading this seems about right.

I have had quite a few 9-5's and never have seen this problem.

1) How do I clear the Trans Limp mode for real to see if it comes back? Some have suggested disconnecting the batter for a bit, does this work?

2) The things that I am going to try to resolve is
a) replace the trans fluid
b) trouble shoot the solenoid (can ohm out at the Trans Control Module)
c) Look for loose ground cables and other connectors under the battery.

Anything else I should be looking at?
