Our yongest had a similar situation with his non-SAAB Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sat, 6 Apr 2019 17:56:35 In Reply to: Battery Cable, Itsasaab, Sat, 6 Apr 2019 11:38:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Car was 17 years old, with 220K miles, was 300 miles away from me, and was experiencing slow cranking speeds and delayed starting.
My first advice to him was the battery. It tested fine but had no date/age indicator on the case. I told him to buy a new battery anyway as some testers give erroneous results. Same problem persisted with the new battery.
I then recommended he tighten all cables on the starter and inspect for any frayed cables. He did this and all was good.
Round #3 was advice to replace the starter. He did this himself with a pitiful trunk set of tools. Problem solved!
