My mechanic does it 100% top side and in about 20 mins. However I have not been able to do from top side. My hand just cant get down there to hold the heat shield in place along with somehow lining up screw and variety of extensions and universal joints all at the same time.
But if you have a magnetic torx socket and remove the air charge pipe I can see how from top side it can be accomplished.
And If you can remove the oxygen sensor right in front of the top side access to CPS location, i dare say things would be pretty smooth sailing.
FYI: recently had a sudden failure of CPS. no warning, no hot start issue....just one morning crank no start.......
