rear springs for Aero wagon Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Wed, 21 Aug 2019 06:46:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I am told that the sport suspension springs for the wagon are discontinued, and I don't see stock for them anywhere. Lesjofors has a listing for a replacement, but those also seem to be NLA.
I haven't had any luck finding a used pair, but I'm still looking.
In the event that I have to buy new springs, which would be better? Aero springs for the sedan, or standard springs for the wagon?
Trying to source these parts has been a pretty frustrating experience. There are dozens of versions of this spring out there for all the different combinations of variants, which is fine. What is frustrating is that there's all these different codes and there's no explanation for what they mean. For example, by the VIN code my car needs code FH rear springs. But code is not how any place identifies springs for sale; they do it by model, year and trim options (wagon/sedan, sport/non sport, leveling control/no leveling control). And there's no reverse lookup, as far as I can tell, to figure out what you've got. I deduced that the Aero has sport suspension, and obviously I know it's a wagon. I don't actually know if it has leveling control, or how much that matters. Does FH indicate leveling control or not? Does it make a really big difference, in other words would I be better off with getting the sport/wagon option with the wrong leveling option, or vice versa?
Editing again...
Thesaabsite, which if I recall correctly is the official parts supplier, shows a part number 32055277 as directly superseding the part spec'd for my VIN (p/n 12760118). It seems to be an open and shut case, but for some reason both eeuro and my local Saab service centre failed to offer this as an alternative.
