Oh yeah, that thrust washer is something I've come to look for. Got it.

Looking at my other 9-5s, I don't see any of this misalignment between the tensioner and alt.
I'm beginning to think the pulley on the Bosch remanufactured alternator is not pressed on far enough, and is just a little too proud, in the direction of the side wall of the engine compartment.
I'm just going to run the tensioner with that spacer back behind there. It seems to work real well like this. The spacer isn't remotely thick enough to interfere with the correct positioning of that index button or whatever we want to call it, that helps us position the tensioner properly.
