The brake booster vacuum line is a hard, 3-way pre-plumbed assembly that includes a pair (IIRC) check valves. I replaced it, cleared CEL, restarted, P1181 back. darn.
I then proceeded to replace four flexible vacuum hoses that were accessible, and four restarts so far and no CEL. Yay!
IF it was simply a vacuum leak (somewhere) that was causing my problems, why didn't I get a CEL for vacuum?
Where is the sensor located that measures vacuum pressure, and has anyone had one of those go bad, failing "good"?
My coolant bypass valve is 8 years old with over 100k miles on it. Perhaps I'll preemptively replace it, and also the vacuum line or two that connect to the back/bottom of it that aren't easily accessible (I did the two on the left side of it). That might be the rest of the flexible vacuum hoses.
thanks
Ed
