Front brake spring clip

With new front brakes and rotors, it looks like one front spring clip isn't fitting properly, but perhaps this is normal? I tried reseating the spring and it was the same. The upper portion doesn't cover the caliper ear as much as it seems is typical, at least compared to the other side. If I push that in further, then there's a gap between the spring and the caliper further down. I took several photos which hopefully explain this better than words.
Is there some adjustment? Do I need a new spring? Can I drive like this until I can get a new spring? Or is this all normal with the new pads which spread the caliper nearly as far as it will go.
