Yes the gear boxes are a bit notchy. The 99 to 01 before the updates a little more so than the later ones. Also the fluid update did put a stop to an almost constant warranty update kit we installed in many of the gearboxes. The kit helped with reverse as well as the other gears. And I don't see any problem with slightly overfilling the boxes. You would have to probably overfill it quite a bit before it caused a problem with fluid expansion when hot. Good Luck, Bernie
