Look seriously at that PCV assembly if the alternator is off. Replace if any leakage at all. Other replacements are belt tensioner, pulleys, pass side motor mount.
The starter is not that close. The oil pressure sending unit should be replaced when the starter is replaced, but I have an '01 and '04 that both are well over 200,000 each and both have the original starter. Having the starter out doesn't IMO create that much additional room to R + R that alternator. Your main advantage is the pos. cable has to come off in both instances. But I take the alternator out the top way, not the bottom (done 3 of them so far).
