IF your can afford a little extra time, try what Cheaptech suggests - it's probable that you can clean, polish, lubricate, and keep going. I don't have that luxury often, since the SAAB's I work on are usually not at my house for an extended period.
It is not guaranteed, however. My 2004 Acura with manual trans had a starter with a solenoid that always 'clicked', but there was a bad spot on the commutator that gave me a 'dead zone', so it needed a new/rebuilt unit at 260K miles.
