Starter out the bottom, but things I do "from above" are:
1) remove battery and battery tray for added light and access to the UPPER starter bolt
2) GENTLY remove the fragile / brittle brake vacuum line to prevent breakage when removing upper bolt
3) Optionally loosen the 13mm headed bolt holding the positive battery cable to the transmission to allow some slack that will aid removal of the battery cable lug from the starter solenoid stud.
