Our 2004 Arc needed help just like yours. We used the eEuroparts piece plus the Taliaferro short shift kit. Was fussy as all get out to align propely and get to shift correctly but in the end was worth all the effort. When I say it was fussy I mean REALLY fussy. Battery and battery tray had to come out, electrical box had to be tied out of the way, special rods had to be made to hold the tranny in the correct gear and also the shift rod in the right place. Not an easy job . . . . and VERY FUSSY . . . . but worth it in the end. Tranny has to be locked in gear, shifter rod has to be immobilized in the right place, clamp on the shifter rod gets loosened, and then you make a tiny adjustment, tighten the clamp on the end of the shifter rod, test the shifter. Do it again . . . . . and again . . . . and again . . . until you feel the shifter get to the right place.
Make sure your engine mounts are in good shape too because the engine can sag enough to start to mess you up with the alignment.
Best of luck with it. P/M me if you want more details.
