ABS Failure 2003 9-5 Aero Wagon 5-speed

I have a 2003 9-5 Aero Wagon pushing 190k miles, mostly highway. Well cared for by first owner and I am second owner.
ABS unit started acting up intermittently but over a period of days it finally quit completely. All the ABS lights came on and the speedometer dropped to zero. No cruise control. I considered having it rebuilt but bought a used unit from Mile Hi Automotive in Denver and swapped it out. They could not reprogram it, it won't take. Swapped it out for a second unit and still no luck reprogramming it.
Both replacement units restored the speedometer and cruise control but the TCS Off, ABS and Brake lights are on.
Next step is to send it off to BBA but I am wondering if there might be something else wrong. The WIS (Workshop Information System) says to check for a loose ground before sending these units back for warranty replacement because they have received a lot of warranty returns that checked out fine.
The parts manager at Mile Hi says she is having the same problem with her car.
Any suggestions?
Charles
