Patient is a 2000 9-5 Aero, automatic, with ~208k mi. About a week ago symptoms of delayed reverse appeared, and as of today reverse is all but non existent. at about 2500rpm it shudders and moved rearward. I suspect this will not be the case very much longer
I have flushed this trans regularly ~30k mi since I've owned the car (~170k mi)
the car appears to shift in all forward gears normally.
I'd like to know my options here:
- there is some talk of valve body clogging/failing. How can I diagnose this?
- There is some talk of solenoids going bad. Again what are the symptoms and how can I diagnose it?
I would surely replace the valbody or solenoids if I *knew* these were the issue.
however there is a likelihood that the transmission itself is gone. I may choose to do the transmission ... or not. I'm not decided yet, but I'd like to know exactly what is up before making a decision.
