'08 Key in the Washing Machine Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Wed, 21 Oct 2020 07:37:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I scooped it out of my jeans pocket near the conclusion of the fill cycle. The key had been fully submerged. I opened the key head door and it looked dry inside. Regardless, I left the key opened for three hours before trying it. Nothing worked!
I opened the key head door again and removed the battery. There was some moisture beneath the battery. The key is now sealed in a snack sized zip-lock bag with a salvaged Silica Jell packet.
Is there any hope a new battery following 24 hours in the sealed bag will restore operation? Or should I just order a new key head now? $130 for the head, $20 for the door (the latch on mine is slightly buggered), $? for local programming. Could be an expensive mistake.....
Thanks,
