A bit tough to diagnose w/o scan equipment to see live data.
You've mentioned that it started fine 4,5 time after you installed new battery. Throw on a battery charger overnight and see if there is a change at startup in the morning. Don't have to disconnect terminals.
Also, next time before you start the car, with IGN off pull out fuse #17 by the driver's door for a minute, then put back in and see if there is a change on how it starts.
The issue could be mechanical and/or electrical. Tech2 would really help out.
