Problem starting issue Posted by allissaab [Email] (#1488) [Profile/Gallery] (more from allissaab) on Thu, 29 Apr 2021 18:04:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought a 2003 9-5 Aero that had been sitting for 3 years and didn’t run. Previous owner said that it had run fine , but he had suffered a stroke and the car had been parked since then. Bought it cheap thinking I might just use parts since I have a number of 9-5s. When I went back to pick it up I put a battery in it tried to start it, no luck, but with a little spray of starting fluid she fired right up and ran smoothly. I drove it about 3 miles and filled the gas tank since it had about a quarter tank of old gas in it. Drove it home about 30 miles and the car was smooth, powerful, just like you would expect an Aero to drive. Shut it off and no start with out a small spray of ether. Next morning changed fuel filter, oil, spark plugs and small vacuum hoses. Also added Techron and a can of Heet to gas tank. Used some ether to start it and took it for a 2 hour drive (city, highway, secondary roads). Runs smoothly, idles smoothly, good power, good gas mileage, runs perfectly except shut it off and won’t start with a spray of ether. Has no check engine light and tech 2 finds no fault codes. Anyone have some ideas of where to look? I’m stumped. Thanks
