Fuel Pumps Can Stick After Sitting Posted by FredKolb12 [Email] (#46) [Profile/Gallery] (more from FredKolb12) on Fri, 30 Apr 2021 07:51:27 In Reply to: How many miles?, jimmy, Thu, 29 Apr 2021 20:48:20 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had trouble getting my 2000 9-5 SE V-6 started (124,300 miles) after it had been largely sitting un-driven for a couple of years (but had been started periodically) due to a long term family medical issue. As I was troubleshooting, I realized that the fuel pump was not running when I turned on the ignition (clue came from Saabnet). Luckily, a few taps on the pump cover with a wrench handle got the pump running and it's been going strong since. I added injector cleaner to the tank at the next fill up
I agree with jimmy, check your fuel pump pressure at the fuel rail to rule the pump out.
