On my '01 Aero, this happens every Spring. Usually, once the overnight temps have settled above 45F, the car starts on the first try. But this year, no dice. Last week or so, overnights into the lower/mid 30's, starting in the morning took 6 tries (no catch, slight catch, catch/stumble, catch/stumble, catch/stumble a lot, start) then for the rest of the day, everything normal, starts within 1 second of turning the key. DIC and plugs are only a couple months old. Battery very strong, starter turning fast.
This morning, overnight temp about 48F, 5 tries: no catch, catch/stumble, catch/stumble, catch/stumble, start.) A bit better than last week, I think.
Next fill-up will be Sunoco hi-test. That's what always worked in the past. I've tried adding a bottle of Techron to the fuel in the past, but it has never made any difference.
My son's Aero wagon does the same thing, but my wife's Arc wagon does not.
I am not exactly sure what the "check valve" is; the fuel pump is under the back seat in the '01 sedan, so maybe something easy to access/repair?
