Yeah, I would advise against any repairs involving plastic pieces in very cold weather unless you can move the car to a warmer place and do it there. Even though the part was only $18, it would be a bummer for it to crack during the installation due to the cold.
The other option could be you could take your 9-5 for a drive with the heat on and then work on the repair as soon as you get home while the cabin is still warm.
