I also have a 2005 with that filter type. Three times now I’ve had to replace the filter and I always have to cut the actual filter out cause the disconnect tools never work. So I cut out the filter and I’m left with the little stubs sticking out of the line, like you have. It is ALWAYS a total pain cause even when jamming the disconnect tool in there they never want to come out. I just use a needle nose pliers and the disconnect tool and eventually I wrestle them out. Your metal pieces are way more rusty than what I normally see but I still think the pliars and pulling it out piece by piece may be your best bet. In my cases once I got enough metal away from the disconnect tabs, the rest of the tube came out. You could maybe use a pick tool if the worst case scenario happens and you have just the metal tube still stuck in there. Good luck!
