Hello,
Yes I am talking about the flange that the rotor/wheel bolt to. If it is worn a few thousands of an inch it greatly reduces the life of the wheel bearing. I don't always replace them but if the bearing was quite worn or mileage is high I usually recommend it. When I press it out I usually measure it to make sure it does not have a taper. If it has a taper it needs replaced. When tapered the inner inner race will not be tight to the hub and leads to additional heat which kills the bearing. If I didn't call/recommend for it originally and it needs it I have a good spare one or 2 I give to the cause. I know a fair number of people that just always replace it under the don't take a chance policy. Good Luck, Bernie
