Brakes intermittently inoperative Posted by LawrenceJ [Email] (#926) [Profile/Gallery] (more from LawrenceJ) on Mon, 7 Aug 2023 16:05:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello All,
Starting yesterday, I have experienced brief moments of the brake pedal going rock hard and zero brake function. After a few seconds (and much frantic pumping), the pedal softens back up and the brake function returns. I realize that I am very probably looking at some sort of vacuum problem, with either the vacuum pump, the vacuum lines/check valves or the brake booster being probable culprits. Both the vacuum pump and the brake booster are original to my '07 Aero; the vacuum line and check valve assembly I replaced about a year ago. With the problem being intermittent, does anyone have an idea of where might be the most likely place to start looking for the problem? And does anyone know of a remanufacturer for the vacuum pump?
