You didn't say which State you live in but most have similar comsumer protection laws. All large purchases are subject to a time window when the buyer can change their mind. No proof of fraud or malintent is necessary - just change of heart by the consumer. The time period is typically 3 to 7 days. Check with a consumer protection agency/hatline for the definition of what types of purchases are included and the time window.
On the dealer's side however, even GM employees and Vendors who are eligible for special discounts on the purchase of Saabs (typically close to cost) are required to pay destination charge (~$565) and a Dealer prep fee (~$200). These costs are highlighted and printed in bold on the special discount schedule.
A delivery fee in excess of the Destination Charge is bunk! If this is what they are trying to get just walk away, with your $500 deposiit.
