What a great quandary - you really can't go wrong!
As an Audi owner '01 TT quattro 225hp, my needs for a larger car (new family) immediately led me to the A6 2.7t. It is an awesome car - much more responsive than the 2.8 and the six-speed tranny is very good. And is there a more beautiful interior in that segment?? Makes the MB E-series seem downright austere (granted - haven't seen the new version). I was cross-shopping the BMW 5-series and the Saab Aero. I ended up with the Aero because of a super price (app 34K from 41K MSRP). I have upgraded the tire/wheel fitment and added an aftermarket exhaust. The Dunlop SP9000's are a big improvement over the Michelin Pilot's that are OEM on the Aero. The car is a real hoot to drive although the understeer could probably be helped by stiffer springs or anti-roll bars. If the discounted prices had been similar (even discounted, the A6 was 6K more) - it would have been a tough call. I am a long distance commuter, so cars don't stay too long (18-24 months) on my side of the garage. The Audi is at the top of the list for the next cycle - how about the S6!... the sedan will be available in the U.S. next year!! I do miss the TT quattro however :(
Happy motoring!
Eric
