Though my 4-cyl./auto 9-5 is new as of June, I formerly drove a similarly equipped 9000CD--the only exception: it had no traction control.
A little tidbit: Last Christmas morning at about 2 a.m., we started getting that 7-footer. I was taking only the major routes home from downtown since no side streets were passable. I ended up getting out of my car and helping a few people push out theirs as they lodged them on plow wakes in front of hotels near our airport. Minutes later, there was a massive line of us, bumper-to-bumper and halted since the slight hill up ahead was turning back all but the most obscenely high 4x4 pickups--buses, vans, and almost all cars were getting ditched as people walked. The crowning irony was the area's largest tow truck (a 30-ft, three-axle semi, essentially) got stuck in 2-feet of snow right next to me, gave up trying to advance, and retreated by reversing out. Needless to say, I made it out of the jam after waiting just a bit more and following a 4x4 that "paved" the way ahead. Moral of the story: my old Nokia (as they were called then) snows and some forbearance got me home about a half hour later.
Your mileage may vary, of course.

p.s.: Please go easy on Buffalo--aside from that storm, we had one of the mildest winters ever.
