Good for you for standing up on this issue and taking all this abuse. I have been watching this one unfold and fighting the impulse to enter and say something. The following is directed at the opposing viewpoint.
Bottom line--if you choose to speed, then you choose to risk the consequences. And if these consequences include points and insurance increases, so be it. At least the insurance increase is being assessed to the person deemed the risk. I pay high enough rates as it is with a clean record because I live in Philadelphia. If I lived 200 yards further north I would be out of the city and my rates would drop. I see accidents in downtown Philly almost daily. And most are caused by--people who don't live in Philly (out of state plates, or no Philly registration on tag). I am paying more for the risk posed by others. Speeding adds to insurance risk and payouts. The comnpanies have to make up their money somewhere. I don't know about anyone else, but it seems fair to me that they assess some of this to those deemed more likely to be the cause of an accident. Like known speeders - especially since the points are generally given for speeding that is abusive and dangerous.
We do not have a constitutional right to violate speed laws. If you choose to do something wrong, or make a decision that some certain law does not apply to you, then accept the consequences.
And BTW--the Taconic Parkway is hardly an interstate highway. The 55 mph speed limit there is appropriate for a wide variety of reasons. It may be fun to drive it fast, and it may not be unsafe for drivers of this board to drive it fast, but that does not make this action then safe for other drivers on that road who are subject to this speeding around them. The speed laws are to protect all the drivers on the road, not just hamper those who must have fun.
