If you have dimples in the roof it is not
possible to fix the car in a proper way as
the body is all bend up. Sure on could fix
it but it will not be able to provide protection
in the next crash... so it is a total loss.
In Switzerland any damage in the roof resulting
from an impact results in the car being considered
as TOTAL loss. Also, at least in Europe the manufacturer
(SAAB) can overrule any decision by an insurance company
if he feels that no fix would re-establish full passenger
protection. In such a case the insurance company will have
to accept it as a totaled car.
