I traded a '99 A4 2.8QM for an '02 Aero with a manual transmission. Transmission choices aside (an incredibly polemical issue), here are some thoughts:
- Fun to drive factor: this is subjective, of course, but I find my Aero much more engaging than the A4 was. Drive both and see what you prefer.
- Quattro drivetrain: AWD on my A4 saved my arse from sticky situations many times. I'm older (and wiser, I'd like to think) now, so the FWD on the Aero just makes for fun situations.
- Resale: Your 36 month residual on the A6 will almost undoubtedly be higher than the Aero. Saabs and Audis both don't seem to hold their value as well as Mercedeses, Porsches, or even BMWs, but the Audi should have a bit higher resale than the Saab.
- Individuality: Someone mentioned this earlier, but consider it if it's a factor. Aeros are less common than A6s.
Hope this helps.
