I was wondering how these two engines compared on the street. Does the V6 launch better with its larger displacement? I know that I have a techo obsession with things like this. Blinded by trechnology?

HP does not aways provide better performance on the steet for normal driving and traffic conditions. Our 90HP diesel will leave most everyting behind from a standing start.

Is there anything magic about the way that the automatic transmissions work with the 9-5 engines? I am quite stuck-in-the-mud about this issue and really like manual gear boxes. But with a 3700 pound vehicle, perhaps the slush box has some advantage, other than costing $1300.

The automatic in the Volvo 2.3l turbo 5 cylinder was a disapointment. The engine shifted down and made lots of noise. It would not stay in gear and go for boost and dig in. The 2002 3.0t with auto delivered lots of torque and did not downshift

I can see my self bonding to a 9-5, but the cost is very high. I just replaced all of the siding and windows and some doors. So I just picked up some big time debt. So I should look at a used 9-5. I have not coinsidered a 9-5 before. And now my wreck is forcing me to get a new vehicle very quickly. There is so much that I don't know. Is there anything special about the 2003 models compared to earlier production that I should be aware of?
