If it is the cost you are concerned about, I can't really comment. As far as the things the dealer found.....they all sound reasonable except for the exhaust.

I would work long and hard to get Saab to pick up the cost of the new exhaust system. Most manufacturers produce ling-lived exhaust systems that can normally be expected to last the life of the car, except perhaps for the cat and the muffler. I think a car as new as yours should get a free replacement.

Brake pads - there is no problem here. Are the rotors scored as well? Some manufacturers do not recommend turning the rotors, but require new ones due to thickness concerns. Brake wear is a fact of life, and you need to just accept this. 52,000 miles sounds ok to me - I don't usually get that far ;)

The clutch I would leave alone until it degrades to the point at which it becomes bothersome to you or your spouse, or it starts to slip. There is no reason to replace it until then (unless you are having other maintebnance done which might save some of the labor cost). Clutch life can be highly variable, depending on the driving habits of the owners. I usually get at least 150,000 miles on the clutches of my cars, but some folks can fry a clutch in less than 20,000.

The drive belt....follow the manufacturer's recommendations. If it fails you will be stuck on the motorway because you will lose all your engine driven accessories (alternator, power steering pump and water pump). The car will not be drivable more than a _very_ short distance when this happens. The belt change should be considered normal scheduled maintenance.

Just be glad you don't have a V6, or you would soon be facing the cost of new timing belts. Your engine has chain driven cams and you can smile about that.
