Currently have a BMW 523i (with which I am very pleased) and am considering 530i or Aero as well. BMW seems more balanced and more refined. Beautifully silent engine, less wind noise, more road hugging (sports suspension). Maintenance costs reasonable and you don't need to increase the tire pressure for driving over 160 km/h. But... the price is substantially higher, less discount and new one expected in 2003 already, so probably not much, if any, advantage in resale value. The Aero seems very close to the BMW in most respects and is quicker. Saab should build the next one with rear wheel drive (now as special as front wheel drive was in the early Saab days, so a good moment to switch!).
Anyone experience with the Aero at high speed (200+ km/h) long haul on the autobahn? Does fuel consumption stay within reasonable limits or does the classic turbo consumption apply (523i always under 12 l/100km on average, normally 9.5-11 l/100km)?
2.7T is not an option. Far too expensive and gasoline guzzling. Live in flat area, so no need for four wheel drive.
