I have used Hakka Q's for the past two winters and partially agree with your comment. The Winter of '01 to '02 was unusually warm here in Michigan and I was surprised at how worn my tires were when I removed them last Spring after 10,000 miles.
The Winter of '02 to '03 was unusually cold and again I was surprised at the change in tire wear at Spring tire-swap. But this time I was surprised at how little additional wear the tires showed after the second 10,000 miles.
They clearly are a cold weather compound tire. Ir Winter temps reach 40 degrees F or warmer regularly in your locale, the Q is not a good choice. If the temp never goes above freezing during the winter minths, then the Q will exhibit good wear characteristics for a winter tire.
At this point, I think I can safely get an additional 10,000 miles out of them. But the special siping in the center of the tread is gone, and I keep their prssure under the recommended maximum.
