The scenario you explain is not possible. The torque converter cannot overcome the force of the brakes. In fact, the "stall" speed of the torque converter in the Aisin Warner gearbox in the Saab 9-5 is 2350RPM plus/minus 150 RPM.
Audi proved this cannot happen in the 5000 after they were falsely charged of unattended acceleration by our media-fantastic friends of 60 minutes. At the same time (c.1986) Nissan was battling false allegations with the 300z, too, but complaints were far lower.
I DO NOT doubt that you could have the high engine revs, but the brakes could stop it! Is there a chance you hit the tall skinny pedal by mistake?
