es the brakes can stop any car, should an engine rev on its own.
No, the story with AUDI was not crazy at all, what the people
experienced did in fact happen, but they did indeed never hit
the brake pedal, which is why the cars left off on their own.
Did they hit the throttle after the car left off... making
things worse. In most cases yes.
After numerous incidents in the USA and a case were a top
Gov. official in Switzerland had the same problem... his
car left off in the Gov. parking lot damaging many other cars.
AUDI replaced a number of Auto boxes in a number of affected model years
in Switzerland... under some service bulletin. Audi acted mainly
because only few Audi's in those days were Auto, most were sold
as 5spds. In any case Audi has never admitted that there was a
problem with those Auto boxes, however the incident is very
easy to reproduce if you know how.
(will only work on early models)
1) Shut engine down while car is still moving.
2) Once stopped, pull up hand brake. (so that car wheels can't move enough
to disengage into P)
3) Shift into P.
4) Wait a while, switch on engine, torque conv. will still be engaged.
5) Enjoy or pray... depending on what you're up to LOL
6) Thank you AUDI!
Another fun thing to do on recent Audi's is to damage the ESP / ESC
chip using static electricity. Fun fun fun... if you wana die early on.
Why do you thing that Audi modified the Auto gearbox and made
it mandatory to apply brake pressure to start the engine ?
Cause some gearboxes had a problem.
Everyone knows about the A4 and TT brake problem in wet weather,
AUDI has finally admitted that there was a problem on the A4 and
they developed a wheel spoiler that keeps more water of the calipers.
They're now looking at the TT case, but deny that there is a problem.
In the Pinto case they would probably have said that people should
not drop their cigarettes into the fuel tank after a crash LOL
