I jack my '01 Aero routinely using a 2.5 ton hydraulic floor jack. Here's what you need to do:
Leave the "cup" in place, and trim and place a thin piece of wood inside the cup so that the wood protrudes slightly above the lips of the cup. The wood stabilizes the cup, spreads the load and pads the frame. You can skip the wood step, but I think it does help to do this.
Jack at the recommended side jack point for each wheel. Get on your hands and knees and BE SURE the jack cup clears the fiberglass skirt or you will damage the skirt. If in doubt, get a flashlight and study the way the skirt is positioned. The wood needs to contact the stiffened steel frame lip that protrudes downward.
Jack the car. If you are going to be jacking more than one corner, or plan on going under the car, place a jack stand next to the jack. It's a little tight, but it will fit if you are creative.
I do this routinely twice a year when I change tires, and have never had any problems.
