HOw much difference do you think actually exists between the way the car performs if driven in the so called regular "sane" day to day mode, and whatever your expectatons are of "unleashed" power? In terms that can be measured,do you think that the 0-60 MPH times vary even by a tenth of a second? Two tenths? I tend to doubt it.Overall responsiveness? Is it something that cannot be measured, but your seat of the pants feel tells you that the car is actually faster? Again, I really doubt that there is much difference. I think that for those who really want more power and performance,an engine upgrade is the only thing that will really make a recognizable difference. And with that upgrade comes the bigger problem of how to harness that power to the ground with the current chassis configuration. Even the Hirsch 305 HP car still has this trouble, although quicker than a raped ape when underway,it is no better off the line with a stick than a 250 HP Aero is with the automatic. It really depends on what kind of improved performance you want to determine if either trying to override the stock OBD 2 settings is worth it, or going even further and getting a modified ECU.
