According to my SAAB mechanic, the car adapts to your driving and go to "lean" burn mode if you drive slowly. After a full throttle acceleration, it changes parameters to give more power. This has been standard on SAAB for several years according to him.
I have always suspected something like this, because both my current 9-5 Aero and my previous 9-3 ( 185hp ) felt slower when overtaking the first car on my way to town ;-)
When passing the second car, they felt much quicker.
