year-end pricing deals and tactics (long)

hello friends. well, the lease on our audi will be up soon, and we would love a 95 wagon, either a linear or an aero (if we can afford it).
I know I can get a good price by leasing a year-end model, but wanted your opinion on when exactly to do this - we can extend our lease up to six months, so that we can really end up with a good price - and we all know how important that is nowadays... the risk, of course, is that of not finding any car available if too late in the season...
I would assume july and august would be the best months, but what would be the target numbers we should go in with? Some interesting finds: I have noticed on saabusa.com that ny area doesn't have any good program this month - which seems to contradict the minus $5k (or more) from invoice some people reported here. Also, carsdirect.com has now pricing much much higher than last month (more than invo!!!).
In short: when and how to get the best #s? and what those #s would be? I still remember people last year reporting buying aeros in july/august for around $32k, which is appetizing to say the list - saab are really appealing cars, and so seem the dealear services and the free maintenace (we were spoiled by the audi in this respect).
sorry for the long message and thanks to all reporting their impressions/experiences.
