anyone use a TV to entertain their kids in their wagon?

We're traveling 1500 miles in three weeks in the wagon. While we're taking two days to do it and are going to do most of the driving while they're sleeping, my wife is intent on getting a tv/vcr to entertain our older daughter (2.5 years old). As an alternative, I can hook up my laptop and play DVD's for her. The problem of course is space. Does anyone know if the bag-type tv/vcr units fit between the front seats? How have others managed to do this?
Thanks in advance!
