I was having the same problem with my vacuum lines, so I upgraded to silicone vacuum lines...which has solved the problem. A good site that has precut silcones vac lines is: http://www.saabsavior.com, you'll have to request the kit using the "contact us" button on the site.
The check valve is another story; I check it's condition every 6 months or so.
