I find that the spray jets on SAABs work much better and are safer than cars that spray across the whole windshield, especially on 9-5's which have 6 jets. I've driven various GM, Ford, and Chrysler cars that have the jets on the wiper arms. When you spray the fluid, it covers the entire windshield, which is good for clearing the dirt, but it is dangerous when driving because it obstructs your view of the road for a couple of seconds. Granted it's not for a long period of time, but it is long enough that if a car changes lanes, an animal darts out, or there's a curve in the road that you're not familiar with, you could end up having an accident.
With the jets on the SAABs it takes a little longer to clean, but since it is safer and you can see the road the entire time, I much prefer it.

Also, when the jets are on the arms, there is a greater chance of them freezing. If the car is parked and it is a sunny day that is below freezing, the sun will warm up the fluid enough for the alcohol(antifreeze) to evaporate out of the hoses. When you start driving, the cold air will then cool the remaining WATER in the hose and freeze it.
