That is my new name for "Direct Ignition Cassette Anxiety Syndrome" which I think I have. I travel all over the lovely state of New Mexico and and often times in some far flung places, like yesterday and this morning. I spend my time driving my 1999 9-5 wagon with 55k miles on it wondering, is this the place where the DI cassette will fail and leave me standed? I try in my mind to calcutate how many hours (usually 4-5 at least) away from Santa Fe (the only place an authorized Saab dealer is located)I am and how long it will take for a tow truck to find me. Do I have enough water to last the wait?
What this all leads me to is, my car is scheduled to go in the shop next week for an oil change. With 55k miles on the DI cassette along with rotten egg sulfer smell I get frequently, should I just bite the bullet and and the damned DI casette replaced? Are the new ones any better than the old ones? Reading this board about the high rate of failure of these is taking the pleasure out of driving!
Thanks for you advice!
