Before I bought my 9-5 wagon, I shopped for alternatives that would deliver cargo space, fuel economy and a high-riding stance (Pontiac Vibe like which my wife has).
I actually held off an entire year in the hopes that SAAB would come out with its 9-3 wagon (I could swear I saw a picture on the web of the 9-3 wagon which was not the Sport Hatch...and was a high-rider...It would have been my ideal car!).
In the process, I test drove the AZTEK (there goes my credibility, if I had any!) and the RendezVous. And the MPV, the Trailblazer, etc...
In the end, I guess it depends what you are looking for. For me, I now realize that the appeal of the deal is what I like. And I got a hell of a deal with the SAAB.
The Mazda3 might be a real looker, but it ain't a SAAB. Then again, if you are looking at it, I suspect that you enjoy value for money over otehr criterias.
BTW, I found that the Mazda6 is a fine car, but is a low-rider. Don't know for the 3!!!
Good luck!
