I WISH we didn't have to sell cars for LESS than cost + markup. How is this possible when todays car shopper is more dishonest than the salesman trying to make a deal? People come into dealerships, kick around everyone they see trying to beat every last penny out of the deal, lying about what they were offered down the street for the trade or what Joe Dealer offered them on the exact same vehicle and then when they finally get the price they want after every bit of profit is taken out of the deal and only expenses and commission are left, you complain about the fees which you already should have known were there to begin with and give crappy surveys because you feel you had to fight to get the car for next to nothing. The only people worse than dirty car salesmen are dirty car shoppers (and dirty attorneys). The way it SHOULD work is you come in, pay MSRP for new or Kelly Blue Book for used and THATS IT! CarMax and Saturn have these reputations for great service...well thats because the maggots that chisel every last bit of profit out of the deal have no rock to chisel and therefore feel they did not have to struggle to get a slashed price even though they are paying FULL RETAIL! They get one price and it is up to the customer to buy or walk. I have seen people drive 100 miles to save $200 on a new car.

Sorry for the rant but I have to stand up for my profession here! Like everything, there are exceptions to this of course.
