New owner--a few questions

Proud new owner of a '99 9-5 SE, LPT, 5-speed. I have a few questions. It seems that the current reccomendation is for 0W-40 (dissenting suggestions, anyone?), fully synthetic for oil. My car has 109k miles with one previous owner. I have all the service receipts and oil has been changed regularly. I have been witness to more than one instance of a switch to synthetic oil causing leaks (valve cover gaskets). Yet I know that synthetic oil is definitely the way to go (esp. w turbos). Would I be advised to try to contact the shops/dealer that performed service on the car to see what kind of oil was used?
My left high beam does not work. Replaced (probably a good bulb) with a new one, still out. All fuses are okay. It seemed as if the relays controlled the high beams in general and not just one. Should I try replacing relays? Anybody else with this problem?
Sure this one's been asked before: Any way to allow parking (city) lamps to work in any key position other than 'lock'?
Any hints/tips/tricks specific to Saabs that I should know when performing my own routine maintenance?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jeremy
