How do you come to that conclusion? I have gotten Saab supplied 5-W30 semi synthetic oil put in my 2002 Aero since new,and that is what Saab had been using for that model year.Who supplied it to Saab? Don't know, and don't care! Why are there so mant oil experts out here in bulletin board land who probably have zero experience as either metalurgical engineers or chemists? If Saab's engineers specified that type of oil for this engine based on testing and the oil manufacturers data that the general public has no access to,how can you feel that the Mobil oil that they now use is not as good as the stuff in your trunk. They used to specify 30K for the plugs, now it is 40K. Things change. Do you really feel that you need or want new plugs at 30 K? Put a set in and see if your car actually runs better. Chances are it will not.
I really have to question your choice of terminology about getting ripped off. what they did is 100% supported by their written warranty policy that you purchased with your car.
