the 2nd number refers to visc at 100C. A SAE50 is about 20 cs, while SAE5 is about 4 cs.
the 1st refers to vis at like-20C, and a 5W 'curve' (astm d341) would extrapolate out to about 20000 cs there.
your special rating for say 5W30, would be 120X30, where the non-existing SAE 120 oil at 100C would have about the same visc of 5W at -20C. It's misleading, since the 120 is based on linear steps on a log axis.

for hot weather, make sure the rad is in great shape ... 10+years on east coast is usually pluggage problems for C900 saab rads. u can inspect core-ends thru the upper inlet, with mech'cs mirror.
townsendimports.com ->documents ->cooling has a copy of the saa SB, to wire the 2.1L to get both fans to run when hot, like all other C900 models.
2/3 on gage is about saab spec for ran kick in point. Jim at sobstory.com can get an 88C fan switch from a dual speed 9K that should work well with cooler than oem 82C t-sat, and not overuse the fans like the 82C switch will (esp if rad is good).
