This is a wondrous little circuit board encased in plastic that sits on a heat sink attached to the inner left fender in that magical area between the outside fender and the 'inner fender' that separates the wheel well from the engine.
These modules are known to fail at high temperatures. I've had one fail on my '84 900 on a very hot July day, and just last week, the same part failed on my wife's '93 Volvo. What happens is that the heat sink gets corroded and then loses its ability to keep the little circuit board cool. The circuit board's curcuits then fuse together.
The symptom is a no start, crank, crank, crank condition with no fumes (because the little thing is so smart, it doesn't let the fuel pump run when it is blown, so you don't flood the engine).
You can get one at any of the suppliers on this list, or from the dealer. It costs about $100 at the dealer, a lot less at other suppliers.
