The 91-93 900 had a 2.1L motor (larger size than the pre-91 2.0) that had a bad head gasket design. Sooner or later, it will fail, so check if that repair has already been done. If it was replaced, it was replaced with an updated design that corrected the original design.
The temp guage seems high. The needle should be at 3/8ths. This could be a thermostat problem, a clogged radiator, or a water pump failure. Check for any drips from the water pump (at the 'back' of the engine below the A/C compressor.
(If you buy the car, backflush the radiator and engine block by removing the upper heater core hose, remove the thermostat, replace the thermostat cover without the thermostat in it, then remove the upper radiator hose. Turn the heat control to high. Put a garden hose into the removed heater core hose. You'll be astounded to see all the stuff that flows out of the radiator!)
Also check that the brake fluid has been flushed periodically. Every 2 years is recommended. If it has never been flushed, you might be seeing caliper problems down the line.
It pays to bring it to a mechanic who will charge you $75 to check out the car. He might discover something that will be a major headache later.
Otherwise, the 91-93 900 is a very reliable car that will go quite a distance. It is also very, very safe, so it is the perfect car for a college student.
